Police arrest alleged fraudster from Srinagar

Srinagar, June 25 (UNI) The Counter Intelligence (CI) Wing of the J&K Police has rounded up an alleged fraudster from Srinagar for using a forged document bearing the fabricated signature of the SSP CI Kashmir to further vested interests.

Police said in a secret operation yesterday, CI Kashmir rounded up a fraudster Bilal Ahmad Rather originally, a resident of Allochi Bagh and currently residing at Zakura, Hazratbal Srinagar for using a forged document of CI Kashmir under the signatures of SSP CI Kashmir for vested interests.
They said the operation was launched on a reliable input wherein it was revealed that Rather has collected a huge amount of money from the general public by adopting dishonest and fraudulent means.
“These victims repeatedly approached Rather for the return of their money taken by committing fraud and cheating on them. He refused to return the money to these aggrieved persons by taking a plea that his bank accounts are under scrutiny. He in order to mislead these people forged a letter shown to have been issued by the office of SSP CI Kashmir,” a statement by the CIK
He was questioned and on preliminary examination and analysis of his mobile device, the forged letter (enquiry notice) in question was found available in his mobile phone and the same was retrieved.
“Bilal Rather confessed that he had forged the enquiry notice to grab the money collected by him from different individuals,” police said.
Accordingly, he was handed over to Police Station Zakoora Srinagar for taking necessary legal action.
In this regard, police has registered a case U/S 318(4), 336(3), 336(4), 340(1) BNS. He has been arrested and investigation is in progress.
