Police arrest neighbour for allegedly molesting girl in Gurugram

Gurugram, Oct 1 (UNI) Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly molesting a 13-year-old girl while giving her a ride home from school in Gurugram district, a police official said on Thursday.
The accused, identified by police as Manuj, is a resident of the victim's village and her neighbour. The motorcycle allegedly used in the offence has also been recovered, police said.
According to Police, the girl's mother lodged a complaint at City Sohna police station on September 24, alleging that her daughter was returning home from school when the accused approached her and repeatedly asked her to ride pillion on his motorcycle.
After the girl agreed, the accused allegedly engaged her in inappropriate conversation and molested her while they were travelling towards the village, police said.
"On the basis of the complaint, a case was registered at City Sohna police station under Sections 75(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Sections 10 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," the police spokesman said.
During the investigation, the City Sohna police team arrested the accused from Indri Mor, Sohna, on September 26.
Police also recovered the motorcycle allegedly used in the commission of the offence from his possession.
The accused was produced before a court on September 27 and remanded to judicial custody, the spokesman said, adding that further investigation was underway. UNI KK AAB

Varanasi, Oct 1 (UNI) Research by scientists from Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and Calcutta University has found extremely low genetic diversity in the Marbled Cascade Frog (Amolops marmoratus), known locally as 'Sisne Paha' or 'Sisne Pa', found in the Darjeeling and Kalimpong regions. Scientists have cited this as a serious conservation concern and urged the need to protect its population.
