Prabhu Deva returns to Mysuru Dasara after years, says festival feels like home

Mysuru, Oct 12 (UNI) For actor and choreographer Prabhu Deva, Mysuru Dasara is more than a celebrated cultural festival - it is a homecoming. Back in the city after missing the festivities for the past five to six years, the artiste arrived with his mother and expressed happiness over being part of the celebrations ahead of inaugurating Yuva Dasara on October 13.
“Dasara is always special. It feels like coming home and attending a family function. I am very happy to be here,” Prabhu Deva told reporters here.
The actor said he had wanted to attend the festival for several years but could not make it. This time, he had decided that he would not miss the opportunity.
His visit has a personal connection, as his mother hails from Mysuru. Describing the festive atmosphere as “superb”, he thanked the organisers for inviting him to be part of the celebrations.
Praising the arrangements, Prabhu Deva said the organisers had been conducting the large-scale festival systematically over the years and expressed confidence that this year's celebrations would also be well organised.
He is scheduled to inaugurate Yuva Dasara on October 13, one of the major attractions of the annual festivities that draws young people in large numbers. He said he was excited about participating in the event and experiencing the enthusiasm surrounding it.
The actor also spoke about his plans to visit Chamundeshwari Temple during his stay. He said he usually visits a Shiva temple near his native village whenever he gets an opportunity.
This year's Mysuru Dasara is showcasing Karnataka's cultural diversity, with programmes highlighting traditions from different regions, including coastal Karnataka's Kambala. Illuminations, food festivals and flower exhibitions are among the attractions drawing visitors from across the country and abroad.
