Practical education is key to nurturing good leadership in a democracy: MP Dr. Radha Mohan Das Agarwal

Pune, Oct 9 (UNI) A practical education system is essential, as it is through this that good leadership emerges in a democracy. Students entering politics should be ready to shoulder responsibilities along with social issues. MIT School of Government (MITSOG) students, along with practical education, should contest local elections by filing nominations, advised Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Radha Mohandas Agrawal.
He was speaking as the Chief Guest on the occasion of the induction ceremony of the 22nd batch of Masters in Political Leadership and Government (MPLG), organized by the MITSOG at MIT World Peace University.
On this occasion, former MITSOG students and MLA Sumit Wankhede, MLA Hemant Ogle, and Andhra Pradesh Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Chintakayala were present as Guests of Honour.
The event was presided over by MITSOG Founder and WPU Executive President Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad.
MIT-WPU Founder and President, Revered Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad, attended the event online.
Also present were Prof. Prakash Joshi, Founder Trustee of MAEER’s MIT; Dr. Raviraja Sitaram, Vice-Chancellor of MIT-WPU; Dr. Namesh Killemshetty, Director of MITSOG; Sankalp Sanghavi; and Dr. Gopal Wamane.
Dr. Agrawal said, “Politics does not require money, yet wealthy individuals are trying to bring it under their control. It is essential to change this mindset. A true leader is one who understands the problems of the people. Through their practical knowledge, several leaders, such as M. Karunanidhi, J. Jayalalithaa, and Giani Zail Singh, have carved out a distinct identity for themselves in politics.
"A person who loses in politics is responsible for their own defeat. Therefore, strive to become an excellent orator.”
Vijay Chintakayala said, “There can be no progress without knowledge. MITSOG, established by Dr. Rahul Karad 22 years ago, will shape the future of the entire nation and transform the direction of politics. Nation-building requires leaders who are dedicated to democracy.”
Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad said, “It is essential for educated and well-intentioned individuals to enter politics. If politicians undergo proper training, improving the country’s governance and democracy will not take long.
"The SOG model is being implemented in various states across the country. The Government of India and state governments have also launched Youth Parliament initiatives. Additionally, we have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six Legislative Assemblies."
