Dehradun, June 20 (UNI) President Draupadi Murmu celebrated her birthday with the children at the National Institute for Visually Handicapped (NIVH) in Dehradun today.
The children at the institute presented emotional patriotic songs, which moved President Murmu to tears, especially when they sang "Bar bar dil ye gaaye, tum jiyo hazaaron saal".
The President distributed low-vision glasses to Raj and Swati Chauhan, students of Model School, and a smart kit to Pankhuri.
Later, she inaugurated the 'Rashtrapati Niketan', her local official residence 'Ashiyana', which is now open to the public. She also inaugurated a cafeteria and a souvenir centre.
The event was attended by Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Singh, Governor Lt. Gen. (retd) Gurmeet Singh, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
