Punjab: Arrest of AAP MLA Arora an eyewash : Congress' Khaira

Chandigarh, May 23 (UNI) Congress MLA from Bholath, Sukhpal Singh Khaira, on Friday alleged that the arrest of Aam Aadmi Party MLA Raman Arora in an alleged corruption case, was "an eyewash", just like Dr Vijay Singla who was also arrested but continues to be Mansa MLA with the full blessings of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.

Khaira, in a social media post, alleged that this was a repeat of a "stunt" prior to the Ludhiana West bye- election just as Dr Vijay Singla was arrested prior to the Sangrur Lok Sabha bye-election.
He alleged that if a genuine inquiry is conducted against AAP Punjab MLAs, barring Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, all would meet the same fate!
Earlier in the day, sleuths of the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) conducted a raid at the residence of Raman Arora, AAP MLA from Jalandhar Central.
The raid is said to be in connection with alleged corruption matters related to the building branch of the local municipal corporation.
A few days back, the state government withdrew security provided to the MLA.
