Punjab: Khanna urges Centre to trace missing youth near India-Pakistan Border

Hoshiarpur, Jun 27 (UNI) Senior BJP leader and former Rajya Sabha MP Avinash Rai Khanna has appealed to the Union Government to trace 23-year-old Amritpal Singh, who went missing near the India-Pakistan international border in Punjab’s Fazilka district, and ensure his safe return.
According to a press release issued by Khanna’s office, Amritpal, a resident of Khairae village under Amir Khas police station limits, had gone across the border fence near Border Outpost (BOP) Rana on June 21 to carry out routine agricultural work. However, he failed to return before the border gate was closed.
Amritpal’s father, Jugraj Singh, said his son had gone to cultivate family-owned land situated across
the border fence. After working there for the entire day, he reportedly went missing in the evening
near the International Border, the release stated.
Taking cognisance of the matter, Khanna has written to Union External Affairs Minister Dr Jaishankar, urging prompt action to trace the missing youth and facilitate his safe return to his family.
Expressing solidarity with the family, Khanna assured them that the Central government stands with
them in this difficult time. He expressed hope that at the intervention of the Government of India, Amritpal would return home safely. UNI GS XC SSP
