Quality education must reach every student: Chandrakant Patil

Pune, Oct 30 (UNI) Maharashtra’s Minister of Higher and Technical Education Chandrakant Patil, attending the inaugural ceremony of the APQN Academic Conference (AAC) held at Symbiosis International University (SIU), Lavale, Pune, today, highlighted significance of quality education and advocated the need of taking it to the student from every strata in society.
Speaking as the chief guest at the conference, themed “Reimagining Quality Assurance in a Rapidly Changing Higher Education Landscape,” organised jointly by Symbiosis International University and the Asia-Pacific Quality Network (APQN), he said that the education changes lives and quality education changes the future of a nation.
"Every qualification must command trust. Every graduate must be prepared for future challenges. Quality must be visible in classrooms, teaching methods and student achievements. Every student, regardless of their background, deserves quality education.
Speaking on the occasion, Chandrakant Patil said, “Quality education must focus on students and their future. Our universities must equip young people with knowledge, practical skills and the ability to think independently. Teachers play a crucial role in achieving this goal."
"They must be supported through continuous learning and professional development. Artificial intelligence is transforming education. We must embrace these technologies while maintaining academic integrity. International collaboration is equally important to improve educational standards and create better opportunities for students," he added.
Prof. Nageshwar Rao, Chairman, Executive Council, NAAC, was the Guest of Honour. Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar, Founder and President, Symbiosis, presided over the ceremony. Dr. Galina Motova, resident, APQN; Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Chancellor, Symbiosis International University; and Dr. Ramakrishnan Raman, Vice-Chancellor, Symbiosis International University, were the other distinguished dignitaries present for the ceremony.
Prof. Rao in his address said, "Higher education must become more flexible and learner-centric. The National Education Policy promotes multiple entry and exit options. It also encourages academic credit transfers. A student who clears 19 out of 20 papers should not lose recognition for the learning already completed. Thousands of courses are available free of cost through national digital platforms."
