Radha Mohan Singh dismisses opposition's claims on SIR as misleading

Motihari, Nov 3 (UNI) BJP MP and former union minister Radha Mohan Singh dismissed the opposition's allegations over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as misleading, asserting that an accurate voter list was fundamental to strengthening democracy.
Addressing a youth interaction and a meeting of prominent citizens in Motihari on Tuesday, Singh alleged that the Opposition was distorting facts to create confusion among the public. He said reports claiming that 13 crore names had been deleted from electoral rolls were misleading.
The programmes were organised as part of the BJP's nationwide campaign, ''Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy''.
Singh said the SIR exercise involved identifying deceased, absent, permanently shifted and duplicate voters to ensure the accuracy of electoral rolls. He maintained that fair elections and accurate voter lists were essential pillars of a strong democracy and called for a fact-based discussion on the revision process rather than spreading confusion.
Emphasising the role of young people in nation-building, Singh said the youth were the country''s greatest asset and had a responsibility to safeguard national sovereignty, unity and the dignity of democratic institutions.
He urged young people to remain vigilant against misleading propaganda and place national interests above all else. Calling for their active participation in fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a developed India, Singh appealed to them to stay away from drugs, maintain discipline and contribute to nation-building with a positive outlook.
Later, addressing a meeting of prominent citizens at the BJP office in Gandhi Complex, Singh again raised the issue of SIR and alleged that the Opposition was attempting to mislead the public over the electoral roll revision exercise.
He said the active participation of "aware citizens" was essential for strengthening democracy and called for collective efforts to preserve social harmony and democratic values.
Singh also urged people to remain united in protecting the country's democratic institutions and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.
