Railway's Jammu Division seize 43 boxes of unauthorised water bottles in special drive

Jammu, Oct 28 (UNI) The Jammu Division of Northern Railway has seized 43 boxes of unauthorised water bottles during a two-day special drive.
An official spokesman here said that this was a major step to ensure clean and standard drinking water for rail passengers.
A special inspection drive against unauthorized packaged drinking water bottles was conducted at Jammu Railway Station and in various trains under the leadership of Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Uchit Singhal, he said.
The main objective of this drive, being jointly conducted by the Railway and IRCTC, is to protect the health of passengers and to provide them only Railway-approved 'Rail Neer' and other approved brands of water, he stated.
He added that under this special drive, intensive checking was carried out at the station and in various trains on October 27--28 and 43 boxes of unauthorized and non-standard brand drinking water bottles were seized.
The Railway administration has clarified that, keeping in mind the safety and health of passengers at stations and in trains, only 'Rail Neer' and Railway-certified water is permitted to be sold.
"To completely eliminate the illegal sale of unauthorized brands, such surprise inspections and special drives will continue to be conducted regularly at the Divisional level. Strict legal and departmental action will be taken against vendors violating the rules," he said.
He added that the Jammu Division has also appealed to the general rail passengers to cooperate in this campaign.
The Railway has said that passengers should always remain vigilant and buy only authorized and completely sealed bottled water.
"If unauthorized water is seen being sold at any station or in any train, immediately inform the Rail Madad (RailMadad) App, Helpline Number or the railway staff deputed at the station, so that prompt action can be taken," he said.
