Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum expansion; new Museum to be set up in Bavdhan: Ajit Pawar

Mumbai, July 1 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar called a meeting at Mantralaya Mumbai to accelerate the expansion work of the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum.
The decision was taken to establish an administrative committee to appoint a renowned architect to build a grand museum of international standard on a six-acre site at Bavdhan Budruk in Pune.
The Kelkar Museum, which preserves and promotes the glorious history, has a collection of more than 20,000 objects dating back to the 14th century. Currently, only 11 percent of the objects are open to the public due to lack of space. In this context, the state government has already provided six acres of land at Bavdhan Budruk for the expansion of the museum.
The meeting was attended by Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MLA Hemant Rasane, Additional Chief Secretary Cultural Affairs Vikas Kharge and several others.

Speaking after the meeting, MLA Hemant Rasan said the Deputy Chief Minister has clearly instructed that the construction of the new museum should be done in a quality, attractive and sustainable manner.
