Bharatpur, June 9 (UNI) A priest was killed in a tiger attack at Ranthambhore Fort on Monday morning in Sawai Madhopur district of Rajasthan.
The priest, Radhey Shyam (60), was attacked by a tiger while he had gone out to relieve himself, resulting in his death on the spot.
He had been serving as a priest at the Jain temple located in Ranthambhore Fort for the past 20 years.
This is the third such incident of a tiger attack in the area in the past two months.
Following the incident, villagers blocked the Sawai Madhopur-Kundera road in protest.
Locals alleged that negligence by the Forest Department has led to the third death.
On Sunday, the forest department had restricted public entry into Ranthambhore Fort due to the presence of a tiger.
The local community is demanding compensation for the priest’s family.
