Rajnath Singh to attend HAL Koraput’s landmark 2,000th engine event

Bhubaneswar, Oct 5 (UNI) Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL)’s Koraput division will mark a major milestone on Tuesday with the handover of its 2,000th aero engine, in a ceremony to be attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The programme will also witness the launch of a second manufacturing line for Shakti engines, backed by an investment of ₹218 crore. The new facility is aimed at increasing production capacity to meet the growing demand for engines used in indigenous helicopters.
HAL Koraput has been contributing to India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing capabilities for nearly six decades. The expanded production line is expected to support engine requirements for platforms including the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and Prachand Light Combat Helicopter (LCH).
The expansion is part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen indigenous propulsion and aero-engine capabilities and reduce dependence on imported defence equipment.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Defence Production Secretary Sanjeev Kumar and HAL CMD D.K. Sunil are among those scheduled to attend the programme.UNI MK AAB
