Rekha Gupta celebrates Karwa Chauth with women at CM’s residence

New Delhi, Oct 29 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday celebrated Karwa Chauth with women at her official residence, extending greetings to married women and offering a message of encouragement to widows and single mothers, urging them to embrace happiness and move forward in life.
Describing Karwa Chauth as one of the most significant festivals in a woman’s life, Gupta said the occasion became even more joyful when celebrated collectively with friends and other women.
“Heartiest greetings and best wishes to all my sisters on the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chauth. May this day bring good fortune, prosperity and happiness into their lives. May their husbands enjoy long and healthy lives, and may their married lives be joyful and prosperous,” the Chief Minister said.
She said women from across Delhi had gathered at the Chief Minister’s residence to celebrate the festival together.
“Today, all of us sisters from Delhi have come together to celebrate Karwa Chauth, and I extend my warm wishes to everyone,” she said, emphasising the importance of togetherness and shared celebrations.
In a message that extended beyond traditional festive greetings, Gupta also addressed women who had lost their husbands or were raising their children as single mothers, acknowledging the emotional challenges they may face during festivals centred on marital relationships.
“To those sisters whose husbands are no longer with them, who have lost their husbands or are raising their children as single mothers, I want to say that, by God’s grace, you too have every right to be happy,” she said.
Encouraging them to focus on their families and well-being, Gupta said, “Raise your children well and stay happy.”
She also urged women to remember their loved ones who were no longer with them without allowing grief to overshadow their lives during festive occasions.
“Whenever a festival like this comes around, remember those who are no longer with you, but do not let those memories make you sad,” she said.
In a message shared on social media, Gupta described the festival as a symbol of enduring love, mutual trust and devotion between husband and wife, reflecting the traditions of Indian culture.
Extending her wishes to married women, she expressed hope that their lives would remain filled with love, good fortune, happiness and prosperity.UNI PWS AAB
