Reliance officials meet Suvendu Adhikari at Nabanna to discuss investment opportunities in Bengal

Kolkata, Sep 30 (UNI) West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari met senior officials of Reliance Industries at Nabanna, with discussions focusing on investment opportunities, industrial development and employment generation in the state on Wednesday evening.
In a post on X, Adhikari said: “Today, the Hon’ble Chief Minister of West Bengal Shri Suvendu Adhikari held a meeting with senior officials of Reliance Industries at Nabanna.”
“The meeting discussed various important matters concerning investment opportunities in West Bengal, industrial development and the creation of new employment opportunities,” he wrote.
Sources in the state secretariat said that the officials of Reliance initially met with chief secretary Monoj Kumar Agarwal and then the met the chief minister.
The meeting assumes significance as it comes days after Adhikari met Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani at the latter’s residence in Mumbai during Ganesh Chaturthi.
The chief minister had claimed that during his meeting with Mukesh Ambani and Anant Ambani in Mumbai, they had discussed the immense possibilities for industrial growth and employment generation in West Bengal and that the state was ready to welcome investments that would empower the youth and drive sustainable economic growth.
According to sources in the state administration, potential areas of investment include expansion of data centres, building on land already allotted to the group at the Bengal Silicon Valley Hub in New Town.
Discussions may also cover information technology, a possible semiconductor hub and infrastructure-related projects.
Other areas under consideration include green energy and biogas projects, a cable landing station at Digha, a food park in north Bengal and possible initiatives linked to Vantara.
The development comes shortly after the Adani Group laid the foundation stone for a 2,000-bed hospital in New Town and announced plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in West Bengal by 2035.
