Relief operations launched on war-footing in flood-hit areas of Lucknow on CM Yogi’s directions

Lucknow, Oct 4 (UNI) Amid rising water levels in the Gomti River, the Lucknow district administration has intensified relief and rescue operations, following the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
On Sunday, District Magistrate Vishak G. and Joint Commissioner of Police Bablu Kumar conducted on-ground and boat inspections of affected areas, including Barawan Kala, Saitha, Jehta, Mall Road and Faizullaganj, and reviewed the arrangements.
Prioritizing the safety of affected citizens, officials directed that relief and rescue operations be carried out on a war footing.
During an inspection in Saitha village, the District Magistrate directed the City Magistrate to ensure that pregnant women, children and elderly persons are immediately shifted to safe locations on a priority basis.
Instructions were issued to deploy 10 boats immediately to transport affected people to safe locations.
Officials also reviewed information on health services at relief camps and issued directions to ensure medicines are adequately available for those in need.
District Magistrate Vishak G. Iyer said that teams of officials and employees have been active in the affected areas since morning.
Relief kits are being delivered door-to-door through boats.
Along with providing food and essential relief materials to affected families, instructions have also been issued to ensure adequate arrangements for straw and fodder for animals.
The Health Department has been directed to prepare sufficient kits of essential medicines and deliver them to the affected areas.
In Faizullaganj, the District Magistrate and Joint Commissioner of Police Bablu Kumar inspected the affected settlements by boat and interacted with local residents to gather information about relief arrangements.
Officials instructed police to increase night-time patrolling in the affected areas to strengthen security.
Officials have directed the establishment of an additional control room in Daud Nagar, so immediate action can be taken on citizens’ complaints and requirements.
Officials have been instructed to continuously monitor the water level of the Gomti and vulnerable areas and to remain present at the spot to supervise relief and rescue operations.
