Revive India's spiritual heritage to regain 'Jagadguru' status: Chaitanya Puri

Jammu, Sep 16 (UNI) Calling for a revival of India's spiritual and cultural heritage, Shri Harikripa Peethadhishwar Swami Hari Chaitanya Puri on Wednesday said the country could regain its status as 'Jagadguru' by sharing its rich legacy of knowledge, spirituality and human values with the world.
Addressing a press conference here, Chaitanya Puri said India's spiritual traditions had long conveyed messages of peace, harmony and universal welfare. He stressed the need for religion and science to complement each other for genuine social progress.
Expressing concern over ongoing global conflicts and unrest, he appealed for international peace, communal harmony and universal brotherhood while calling upon all nations to unite against terrorism. Referring to India’s security concerns, he urged Pakistan to abandon terrorism and infiltration and cautioned China against any territorial misadventure, asserting that India remains fully capable of safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He urged a national focus on eradicating superstition, hypocrisy, female foeticide and river pollution.
He strongly advocated for a complete ban on cow slaughter and stressed the need for sustained awareness campaigns to protect future generations.
He stated that institutions and practices historically rooted in service and social welfare must not be reduced merely to commercial ventures.
Religion, he noted, should be reflected in one’s personal conduct and character rather than confined to rituals and ceremonies.
Highlighting the pivotal role of youth in nation-building, he urged young people to stay away from addiction and channelize their energy toward constructive activities, spiritual growth and community service.
"True empowerment lies in upholding moral values, fostering harmony and serving society. Jammu and Kashmir holds a special spiritual significance and peace in this region is essential for the prosperity of the entire nation," he remarked.
He added that he has been undertaking nationwide padyatras and awareness drives to spread these vital messages of social responsibility, environmental protection and human welfare.
Office-bearers of the Shri Hari Kripa Sewa Samiti J&K including President Rajeev Charak and M. M. Puri were also present on the occasion.
