RSP accelerates digital transformation with SAP-driven initiatives to streamline procurement

Bhubaneswar, Oct 30 (UNI) In a significant move towards strengthening operational efficiency and promoting digital transformation, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has rolled out a series of SAP-driven digital initiatives in its Materials Management (MM) department, aimed at making procurement processes faster, more transparent and efficient.
The initiatives are designed to simplify day-to-day operations, automate key activities, enhance transparency in procurement and strengthen the overall materials management system.
The new digital initiatives were inaugurated by Anil Kumar, Executive Director (Materials Management), on October 28, in the presence of senior officials and representatives from the C&IT and Materials Management departments.
According to RSP sources, the initiatives cover several critical areas of Materials Management. These include the implementation of revised approval mechanisms under DOP-2026, introduction of an improved Purchase Order format, enhanced inventory reporting and integration of the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) with SAP for automated contract data capture and generation of backup Purchase Orders.
Other key interventions include simplification of Purchase Requisition creation, streamlining of Liquidated Damages (LD) processing and automation of documentation related to GeM tenders.
The digital solutions have been developed through close coordination between the C&IT and Materials Management departments under the guidance of Anil Kumar, Executive Director (MM).
The introduction of these initiatives marks another important milestone in RSP's digital transformation journey.
By leveraging technology and process automation, the steel plant aims to establish a more efficient, transparent and digitally integrated procurement ecosystem, while improving the ease and effectiveness of its Materials Management operations.
