RSP New Plate Mill sets new production, dispatch records in September

Bhubaneswar, Oct 1 (UNI) The New Plate Mill (NPM) of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has achieved its highest-ever September production and dispatch, setting new performance records during September 2026, RSP sources said on Thursday.
The mill produced 94,517 tonnes of plates during the month, surpassing its previous best September production of 83,862 tonnes recorded in September 2025.
The September output also marked the mill's highest-ever production in a 30-day month, exceeding the earlier record of 89,224 tonnes achieved in June 2026.
The NPM also recorded its best-ever September dispatch since inception by dispatching 90,237 tonnes of plates during the month. This surpassed the previous September dispatch record of 88,775 tonnes achieved in September 2023 and also marked the mill's highest dispatch in a 30-day month.
The mill's cumulative production during the first half (H1) of the current financial year stood at 5,05,519 tonnes, marginally higher than the 5,03,933 tonnes recorded during the corresponding period last year.
The achievement assumes significance as the mill maintained its production performance despite undergoing 11 days of capital repair during the period.
Congratulating the NPM team, its leadership and all associated departments on the performance, RSP Director-in-Charge Alok Verma said continual improvement and sustained growth were essential for achieving sustainable profits in any business organisation.
He encouraged the team to maintain the momentum and continue to enhance the performance of RSP and keep the SAIL flag flying high.
