Saudi-led coalition warns civilians to evacuate Sanaa fuel station ahead of planned operation

Riyadh, Oct. 13 (UNI) The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen’s Houthi movement on Tuesday urged civilians to evacuate a fuel station in Sanaa ahead of a planned military operation, as it reported destroying three drones north of Riyadh amid escalating cross-border attacks.
The coalition’s joint forces command called on civilians to leave the Yemen Petroleum Company’s Al-Sabahah central fuel station for their safety, referring them to an illustrative map identifying the location.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Malki said the evacuation warning has been issued ahead of the operation. The coalition did not immediately provide further details about the timing or nature of the planned action.
Earlier, Al-Malki said on X that coalition forces had intercepted and destroyed three drones north of the Saudi capital.
Saudi Arabia has vowed to respond to attacks on its territory, while coalition forces have continued operations against Houthi positions in Yemen.
The latest evacuation warning points to the possibility of further military action in Sanaa, the Yemeni capital controlled by the Houthis. The coalition did not specify which targets would be involved in the planned operation.
The developments followed a series of attacks attributed to the Houthis targeting Saudi Arabia, including an attempted missile strike on Riyadh on Monday.
The coalition said on Monday that its forces had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched towards the capital by the Houthi movement. It had earlier reported responding to an attack involving drones and cruise missiles.
Yemen's Houthi group said it had launched a ballistic missile at King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh and carried out a separate drone strike on an airbase in southwestern Saudi Arabia.
In a statement on social media platform X, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea said the group targeted the airport on Monday evening with a ballistic missile, claiming the missile "accurately hit" the target.
He said the group also launched a drone attack on King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, claiming a direct hit.
The Houthis have stepped up attacks on Saudi airports and oil facilities since last week, raising tensions between the two sides.
Saudi authorities said Houthi strikes on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Saturday killed 13 people and injured hundreds. Four people were killed in earlier attacks on Wednesday and Thursday, while another person died on Sunday, according to the supplied reports.
Airport operations remained suspended on Monday following the attacks.
Saudi authorities released CCTV footage showing passengers, including Muslim pilgrims wearing ihram garments, waiting in departure lounges before a flash and falling debris struck the terminal area.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree has also warned international airlines against operating flights to Saudi airports. The group has claimed attacks targeting King Khalid International Airport and a military airbase in Khamis Mushait.UNI AAB
