Scapia and Tourism Malaysia join hands to promote new destinations for Indian travellers

Mumbai, Oct 9 (UNI) Indian travel fintech company Scapia has partnered with Tourism Malaysia to launch Malaysia Calling, a four-month promotional campaign aimed at encouraging Indian tourists to explore destinations beyond the traditionally popular Kuala Lumpur and Genting Highlands.
The initiative will focus on Malaysia's cultural attractions, natural landscapes and adventure tourism while offering travellers additional rewards and discounts.
The campaign comes amid growing interest in Malaysia among Indian tourists.
According to Scapia, flight bookings to Malaysia through its platform have increased nearly fourfold, while hotel bookings have doubled. The partnership seeks to build on this demand by introducing travellers to destinations such as Sabah, Sarawak, Penang, Melaka and Langkawi, which offer a wider range of cultural, natural and adventure experiences.
Anand Kandadai, Head of Strategic and Travel Partnerships at Scapia, said the company had observed increasing interest in Malaysia among its customers and wanted to provide opportunities to discover lesser explored attractions.
He said the campaign would offer travellers an improved travel experience through rewards, promotional offers and additional benefits.
Malaysia's Consul General in Mumbai, Najwa Mushrifa Ramli, said India remained an important tourism market for Malaysia, with Indian visitors increasingly showing interest in destinations beyond established tourist routes.
She attributed part of the growth in tourist arrivals to the visa free entry facility introduced in December 2023.
According to the figures provided, Malaysia received 962,983 Indian tourists between January and August 2026. Air connectivity between the two countries has also expanded, with 193 direct flights operating every week from more than 10 Indian cities to Malaysia, supporting continued growth in tourism.
Under the Malaysia Calling campaign, travellers will be offered discounts on flights, hotels and travel experiences, along with bonus Scapia Coins.
The four month initiative is intended to encourage Indian visitors to explore a broader range of Malaysian destinations while strengthening tourism ties between India and Malaysia.
