Second edition of AJP, India's biggest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Greater Noida

Greater Noida, New Delhi 21 (UNI) The second edition of the 'AJP Tour India National Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2025- Gi & No-Gi' was held on Saturday at the Jaypee Atlantic–Sports Complex in Greater Noida. AJP is the biggest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament in India.
This edition saw participation of more than 200 athletes including 30 foreigners. The competition is played across various weight categories and age groups.
Speaking to UNI, Head of AJP India Professor Siddharth Singh noted that BJJ has risen in popularity in India but emphasised that high quality tournaments like AJP are crucial to producing elite martial artists
"Real assessment of skill can only be possible when one plays in a tournament, in this event, athletes of every skill level are competing, when the best talent of various gyms come together to compete we get to know who is the best in India. Competitions allow people to know their flaws, in my personal journey, my losses were my biggest teachers, you never forget your losses, you have to work on them and ensure that they become your biggest strengths."
Prof Singh, who is also the founder of Crosstrain Fight Club feels that Mixed Martial Arts has immense potential for growth in India "Cricket is likely to remain the number 1 sport in India, the competition is for the number two spot, what we need is that one fighter from India making a big break through, someone doing well in a league like UFC that would really capture people's imagination and lot of people will take up the sport."
Prof Singh explained that more high quality tournaments like AJP are needed to be organised across India but no compromise ought to be done with the quality of the competition
"Yes more tournaments are needed across India but there is no point in having multiple tournaments and compromising with the quality, so this should not be hurried."
