Seemapuri building collapse, death toll rises to four including three women

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) The death toll in the tragic building collapse at Seemapuri in North East Delhi has reached four now, including three women and a toddler, police said on Thursday.
During the rescue operation and removal of debris, body parts have also been recovered. Their identification is pending and will be ascertained through DNA examination, a senior police officer said. In this incident, the police have registered a case.
The rescue operation that was underway since Wednesday has now been completed, while further probe has been initiated in the matter. The deceased have been identified as 21-year-old Gulafsa, 56-year-old Haza Bibi, 33-year-old Nusra, and a child who is said to be around 3- 4 year-old.
The deceased Gulfasa was around four months pregnant, while apart from the deceased nine were injured. The injured had been shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while the teams involved in the rescue operations comprised personnel of the Delhi Police, Delhi Fire Services, National Disaster Response Force, DDMA, MCD and DUSIB, who cleared the debris.
It was on Wednesday that the building with four floors had collapsed near the Machhli Mandi in Seemapuri. Such incidents, including the PG building collapse that have taken place in the past have raised questions when it comes to the construction taking place in the city, mostly in the unauthorized colonies, regarding quality, and compliance to the norms.
