New Delhi, June 15 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday reviewed the preparation for the forthcoming Census of India here.
The meeting was attended by the Union Home Secretary, Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India (RG&CCI), and other senior officials, a Home Ministry statement said.
The government said that the official notification to conduct the Census will be published in the official Gazette on June 16.
The Census will be carried out in two phases. In the House listing Operation (HLO) phase, data on housing conditions, assets and amenities of each household will be collected.
In the Population Enumeration (PE) phase, detailed information on the demographic, socio-economic, cultural and other details of every individual will be collected.
Notably, Caste enumeration will also be done, the statement said.
To execute this massive national exercise, around 34 lakh enumerators and supervisors along with 1.3 lakh Census functionaries will be deployed.
This Census is the 16th Census since beginning and eighth after independence.
The Census will be conducted digitally, using mobile applications. Moreover, citizens will also be given the option of self-enumeration.
Stringent data security measures would be kept in place to ensure data security at the time of collection, transmission and storage, it added.
