Shinde’s visit to Tiger Shroff sparks row over alleged neglect of Thane murder victim’s family

Mumbai, Oct 19 (UNI) A political controversy has erupted in Maharashtra after Ram Purnekar, son of slain Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar, criticised Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for visiting Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff following an attack on the actor’s vehicle while allegedly failing to visit the family of the murdered leader in Thane.
Following the Sunday night attack in Juhu, in which three persons were injured, Shinde visited Tiger Shroff’s residence in Bandra to express his support and assure the actor’s family of strict legal action against those responsible.
Taking exception to the visit, Ram Purnekar took to social media to express his resentment over what he described as a disparity in the response to the two incidents.
“Nearly 19 days have passed since the brutal murder in Thane, yet leaders who couldn't spare a moment to visit the grieving family have rushed to check on Tiger Shroff. They have no time to visit Pradeep Purnekar's family right next door in Thane. This is what you call the 'Shiv Sena Meenakshi Raja Era',” Purnekar said in a social media post.
Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Pradeep Purnekar was shot dead in Thane nearly three weeks ago. His family has reportedly expressed dissatisfaction over the failure of senior leaders from the ruling coalition to visit them following the incident.
