Shinde says govt stands firmly with farmers amid crop damage, dry spells

Kolhapur/Satara, Sept 19 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Friday remarked that opposition leaders get a “stomach ache” whether he visits his village, Delhi or London, joking that they might need medicine such as “Jamalgota” for it.
Shinde reached his native Daregaon village in Satara district on Friday for a two-day visit to participate in the Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
Speaking to reporters last night, Shinde said he does not respond to allegations through verbal spats or counter-attacks, choosing instead to let his performance and hard work speak for themselves.
Commenting on crop conditions and dry spells in parts of the state, he emphasised that the government stands firmly with farmers. He said he had instructed officials to immediately conduct damage assessments (panchanamas) in the affected areas.
