Singapore tops residency choices for Indian entrepreneurs, 74pc plan to relocate: HSBC Report

New Delhi, Sep 30 (UNI) Nearly three-quarters of Indian entrepreneurs are planning to relocate or secure an additional residency, reflecting the increasingly global outlook of the country’s wealthy business owners, according to HSBC’s Global Entrepreneurial Wealth Report 2026.
The report found that 74pc of Indian entrepreneurs surveyed plan to relocate or add another residency, compared with 70pc globally. Singapore emerged as the most preferred destination, with 14pc of Indian respondents identifying it as a potential new home. France, the UK and the US followed, with 11pc each.
The report also highlighted strong optimism among Indian entrepreneurs around artificial intelligence (AI), with business owners in the country moving faster than their global counterparts to adapt their operations.
According to HSBC, 99pc of Indian entrepreneurs surveyed have either already made, or plan to make, changes to their business operations in response to AI.
This compares with 95pc globally. Around 65pc of Indian entrepreneurs said they had already adjusted their businesses to prepare for AI’s impact, ahead of the global figure of 60pc.
AI is also expected to influence employment, although Indian entrepreneurs remain divided on its impact on headcount. Around 45% expect AI to increase employee numbers over the next two years, while 25pc anticipate a decline in headcount.
Investment plans also point to growing confidence in AI. More than half (54pc) of Indian entrepreneurs expect to invest between 11 and 30pc of their turnover in AI over the next 12 months. Globally, 61pc of entrepreneurs expect to invest within the same range.
For Indian business owners, AI is increasingly being viewed as more than an efficiency tool. Around 46pc see AI as a way to gain a competitive advantage, while 42pc believe it can help identify new markets or business opportunities. Another 39pc cited higher employee productivity and improved profit margins as potential benefits.
However, concerns around AI adoption remain. Data privacy and security risks were identified as the leading concern by 44pc of Indian respondents, followed by employee resistance amid fears of job losses at 38pc. Another 35pc were concerned about integrating AI with legacy systems without disrupting existing operations.
Despite these challenges, Indian entrepreneurs showed a relatively high level of confidence in AI. Around 54pc said they have “a great deal” of trust in AI to support business activities, compared with 46pc globally.
The survey also showed that wealthy Indian entrepreneurs remain optimistic about their personal wealth and businesses. Around 97pc expect their personal wealth to improve over the next few years, up from 95pc in 2025 and above the global average of 90pc. More than half, or 51pc, expect their wealth to get “a lot better”, compared with 44pc globally.
Business sentiment is similarly positive. Around 97pc of Indian entrepreneurs said they are optimistic about their current business prospects, compared with 95pc globally.
The key drivers of this optimism include technological advancements (46pc), business opportunities and performance (42pc), and advances in AI (40pc).
The HSBC report surveyed more than 3,000 high-net-worth (HNW) and ultra-high-net-worth (UHNW) entrepreneurs globally, examining their views on wealth, business growth, AI adoption and international mobility. UNI VK SAS
