Sirsa urges people to adhere to CAQM’s GRAP- lll curbs, amid likelihood of unfavorable weather & wind speed

New Delhi, Nov 6 (UNI) Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa on Friday said that Commission of Air Quality Management for Delhi- NCR has invoked the Graded Response Action Plan Stage- lll restrictions in wake of the rising AQI levels and the likelihood of further deterioration.
The minister urged everyone to cooperate amid the implementation of the measures aimed at preventing the rise in pollution.
He said that diesel vehicles compliant with Bharat Stage 4 (BS-IV) emission standards or lower, and petrol vehicles meeting Bharat Stage 3 norms or lower, will not be permitted to ply on Delhi roads, regardless of being registered in Delhi or elsewhere.
He also informed that the heavy vehicles and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) that are Diesel powered and meet BS-IV standards or lower are also not allowed to operate under the GRAP- lll.
According to the minister, schools up to Class V will now have to function in hybrid mode.
Sirsa emphasized that there is a likelihood that the weather is not going to be in favor, as the wind speeds may witness a drop, and would go to almost zero in the coming days.
He informed that the GRAP – lll restrictions shall also remain in force across NCR cities like Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Sonipat etc.
He reiterated that cooperation from all stakeholders and people with regard to the measures under the anti- pollution plan’s stage- lll, is going to help towards preventing further rise in AQI, and also cleaning city’s air.
