Six killed, 20 injured in chemical factory explosion in Telangana

Hyderabad, June 30 (UNI) Six people were killed and 20 others injured, some of them critically, following an explosion in a chemical reactor at a factory in the Pashamylaram industrial area of Sangareddy district in Telangana this morning.

According to police, the explosion occurred at Sigachi Industries, triggering a massive fire that engulfed parts of the facility.

Upon receiving the alert, 11 fire engines rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control.

The force of the blast reportedly threw workers into the air, with some landing as far as 100 meters away. Factory management stated that around 30 workers were on duty at the time of the incident.

While five workers died on the spot, one more succumbed to injuries at the hospital. The explosion also caused severe damage to the factory's manufacturing and administrative buildings.

The injured were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials warned that the death toll may rise further, given the severity of injuries.

Due to the intensity of the blast and the emission of strong chemical fumes, police evacuated the surrounding areas as a precautionary measure.

Sangareddy Collector Praveenya and District Superintendent of Police Paritosh visited the site and are personally supervising the relief and rescue operations.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy expressed deep grief over the tragedy and directed officials to take all necessary steps to save lives. He also instructed them to ensure the injured receive the best possible medical care.

TN custodial death: HC Bench pulls ups cops, asks ‘Was he a terrorist?’

30 Jun 2025 | 6:39 PM

Chennai, June 30 (UNI) With political parties flaying the DMK government of MK Stalin over the custodial death of a 27-year-old temple guard in a jewel theft case in Sivaganga district, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court too came down heavily on the police asking ‘Was he a terrorist to deserve this?”
The victim, Ajith Kumar, working as a guard at the famed Bhadrakali Amman temple in Madapuram, died after he was allegedly subjected to brutal assault under illegal custody by a special police team yesterday. Six police personnel have been suspended and a magisterial probe is on into the incident, reviving memories of the horrendous Sattankulam custodial murder of a father son duo in June 2020. And, this is the 24th custodial death in the last four years after the DMK came to power in the state, raising grave concerns about custodial violence remaining entrenched in many police stations across the state.
