Sixth & seventh round of talks held with stakeholders on MPD- 2047

New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Following Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu's directions, Delhi Development Authority today held the sixth and seventh rounds of stakeholder consultations on various provisions of the Master Plan for Delhi- 2047 with architects, planners and other professional stakeholders.
The consultations focused on fostering wider stakeholder understanding and facilitating effective and participatory implementation of the Plan, as envisaged by LG Sandhu.
The land agency briefed stakeholders on major provisions of MPD-2047, including Spatial Development Policies such as Transit Oriented Development (TOD), Land Pooling Areas, High Density Corridors and Low Density Areas.
Discussions covered in-situ slum redevelopment and rationalisation of Development Control Norms were also held, and the stakeholders have come up with suggestions on parking infrastructure, traffic management and redevelopment projects.
The sixth consultation was attended by architects, planners and representatives of NBCC, the Council of Architecture, the School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) and the Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB), while the seventh consultation meeting was attended by DEs, architects and planners.
During the consultations, DDA provided an overview of MPD 2047 and its vision of creating a sustainable, green and liveable national capital.
According to officials, detailed information was shared on the Land Pooling Policy, including DDA’s proactive role in the development process, the specific mechanism for assembly of land, and the development of new road networks and other planned infrastructure in Land Pooling Areas.
The TOD framework was discussed, including Residential Affordable Housing Zones, while the stakeholders were also briefed on High Density Corridor (HDC) development along both sides of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II).
Stakeholders were apprised of the planning provisions for the O-Zone, particularly those relating to the rejuvenation of the river Yamuna and its floodplains.
Heritage conservation was also discussed, including the preservation and improvement of heritage buildings and sites, while a comprehensive mobility plan and provisions relating to Transferable Development Rights (TDR) were covered as part of the broader planning framework under MPD 2047.
The consultations provided an opportunity for participating stakeholders to share their views, suggestions and feedback on various aspects of Delhi’s planned development.
Suggestions were received on parking infrastructure, traffic management in Delhi, and various aspects of redevelopment projects.
Around 20 such consultations are planned as part of the ongoing exercise, covering various thematic areas and stakeholder groups associated with Delhi’s planning and development.
