Patna, June 3 (UNI) Taking serious note of dereliction of duties in treatment of a rape victim minor Dalit girl, which led to her death, Bihar government on Tuesday suspended with immediate effect, the Superintendent of SKMCH Dr Kumari Vibha and relieved Deputy Superintendent of PMCH Dr Abhijit Singh of his duties.
Official sources said here that Dr Kumari Vibha, Superintendent of SKMCH, Muzaffarpur had been suspended with immediate effect as she was found guilty of dereliction of duty in treatment of a minor Dalit girl who was raped in Muzaffarpur on May 26.
In-charge of Deputy Superintendent of PMCH Dr Abhijit Singh was relieved of his post as he had failed to take required step for treatment of rape victim, and she was left unattended in ambulance in premises of PMCH.
" SKMCH delayed in referring the victim to Patna for treatment while the victim remained unattended in an ambulance in the premises of PMCH, Patna on the plea of nonavailability of bed ", sources added.
"The victim was admitted to PMCH after being unattended for hours in an ambulance in its premises ", sources said, adding that she died due to delay and alleged negligence in treatment at PMCH on Sunday last.
Opposition parties had raised much hue and cry over callousness of the Nitish government which led to the death of the rape victim. Leaders of Congress, RJD, CPI(ML) and other opposition parties had criticised the government and demanded the immediate resignation of Health Minister Mangal Pandey for callousness and negligence in treatment which led to death of the rape victim.
