Los Angeles, May 15 (UNI) Jim Root, guitarist of the highly acclaimed American heavy metal band Slipknot, spoke about the band’s lack of music output since their recent lineup changes, attributing it to exhaustion from touring, adding that the band is looking for ‘a fresh start.’
The band, known for their horror themed masks, heavy riffs, bombastic drumming, incorporation of turntables and DJs, hip hop grooves, and their very aggressive vocals, first came into prominence in 1999 with their universally lauded eponymous debut which cemented them among the most renowned metal bands in the world.
Speaking about whether the band had been working on any new music, Root said “Not like diligently".”
"Honestly, we’ve been touring so much since Eloy (Casagrande) joined the band that my inspiration is nearly zero. And there’s a bunch of music that was written during COVID that I’m not interested in,” he added, reports Loudwire.
“And I think everybody else in the band gets it too, and I think they’re kind of, like, ‘Okay, we need to just kind of, like, maybe sweep all that s*** under a rug and start fresh.’"
Talking about his fatigue from touring, "I wanna get touring behind us. I wanna have at least a month off just to shut my brain off and sleep and all that kind of stuff. And then when I find myself going out to my little home studio and putting riffs together, then I’ll know it’s time to start.”
Since their 2022 album ‘The End So Far’, the band has been touring aggressively in the last three years, playing huge gigs globally in countries such as the US, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Australia, and New Zealand among others. Most recently, the band has been celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album.
