Sood calls upon stakeholders to join hands with Govt. & make Delhi 'solar capital'

New Delhi, Sept 16 (UNI) Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood on Wednesday called upon solar vendors and stakeholders to join hands with the government in a bid to transform the city into the ‘Solar Capital’ of India.
Speaking at the solar vendors meet on 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana', the Minister outlined an ambitious roadmap to accelerate solar energy adoption across the national capital.
Highlighting the inspiration behind the initiative, Sood emphasized adhering to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of rapid execution and large-scale development. "We want to make Delhi the 'Solar Capital' of Indi at a scale and speed at which the Prime Minister Narendra Modi works. We are his disciples and will try to work with him at the same speed. We will try to work as quickly as possible, work at speed, and work at scale," Sood added.
The Minister assured stakeholders that the government is fully committed to removing traditional bottlenecks and ensuring a seamless experience for both consumers and businesses.
Under the new policy implementation, the government is taking direct responsibility for real-time payments to vendors. He said: "Consumers also hesitate to pay upfront... so, the government has removed the barrier between you and the consumer. We will pay the full amount. The government is taking responsibility."
To ensure transparency and efficient execution, the Power Department of the Delhi Government has launched a dedicated registration portal. The minister invited vendors to share constructive feedback and suggestions to make the scheme even more inclusive and efficient. "If you have any other suggestions on how we can implement this project better, more seamlessly, and at a higher speed, you are more than welcome," he added, inviting stakeholders to meet or email his office directly.
Outlining the scale of the investment, the power minister revealed that the government aims to facilitate 230000 solar panel installations in the coming months, involving an estimated outlay of Rs 2,600 to Rs 2,700 crore over the next six months.
He emphasized the overall economic impact of the project, stating that the surge in solar adoption will boost national capital's GDP, create local employment, and drive sustainable growth. UNI APS CDS
