Southern States’ Agriculture Ministers' conference in Hyderabad on Friday

Hyderabad, Sep 17 (UNI) A conference of Agriculture Ministers and senior officials of southern States on agriculture and allied sectors will be held at Trident Hotel here on Friday under the aegis of the union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
Union Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in the conference along with ministers and officials from Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The conference will review the Digital Agriculture Mission, Farmers’ Registry, fertiliser management and various horticulture sectors. Discussions will also focus on self-reliance in pulses, natural farming, oil palm, curbing spurious pesticides and fertilisers, and preventing diversion of fertilisers to the black market.
The States will also share best practices in pulse production, agricultural procurement and marketing, and precision and high-tech farming. Telangana is scheduled to present its ‘Rythu Nestham’ farmer-centric extension programme, while the State Agriculture Minister will highlight the government’s farmer-welfare initiatives and key issues concerning farmers.
The conference will conclude with a valedictory address by Chouhan, followed by a press conference, according to an official statement on Thursday.
