SP aims to assert its strength against Congress through Rae Bareli Rath Yatra: BJP

Lucknow, Sep 24 (UNI) The BJP on Thursday targeted Samajwadi Party national president Akhilesh Yadav over his proposed Rath Yatra, saying the SP was seeking to demonstrate its political strength to the Congress through this yatra starting from Rae Bareli.
BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said Akhilesh Yadav was deliberately starting the yatra from Rae Bareli, where Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is the sitting MP. He said the SP was seeking to demonstrate its political strength to the Congress through the yatra and assert its position within the alliance.
Rakesh Tripathi claimed that the SP and Congress alliance is currently in a power struggle. He sarcastically said that the Congress should also start its campaign from Kannauj or Mainpuri to demonstrate its political strength.
The BJP spokesperson, taking a dig at Akhilesh Yadav's yatra, said that the SP chief has now abandoned his bicycle and is now riding a chariot.
He said that while going to Rae Bareli, Akhilesh Yadav should also visit the development works undertaken by the Yogi government.
This statement by Tripathi is being seen in the context of the ongoing tussle between the SP-Congress alliance regarding political influence and the upcoming elections.
