SSEL ships first 175 MVA, 345 kV EHV transformer to US

Hyderabad, Sep 22 (UNI) Shirdi Sai Electricals Ltd (SSEL) has shipped its first extra-high voltage (EHV) power transformer, a 175 MVA, 345 kV unit, from its Naini manufacturing facility in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, to the United States.
The shipment marks a milestone in its international expansion and strengthens its capability to manufacture high-capacity EHV power transformers for global markets, the Hyderabad-based company said in a release here on Tuesday.
SSEL CEO Sharat Chandra Kolla said the company was targeting exports worth Rs 500-600 crore over the next 12-18 months from its Naini facility and was working to secure approvals across Europe for power and distribution transformers.
SSEL President Sudheer Vennam said the shipment demonstrated the company's ability to manufacture and supply large power transformers meeting global utility requirements and established the Naini facility as an export hub alongside its Kadapa operations.
The company currently has an aggregate transformer manufacturing capacity of around 48,000 MVA across its Indian facilities and plans to add another 110,000 MVA over the next few years, it said.
Established in 1994 in Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh, SSEL has capabilities across power and distribution transformers, reactors, conductors and alloys, as well as renewable energy solutions and EPC services for power and energy infrastructure projects.
