Chennai, Apr 27 (UNI) Hailing the historic Supreme Court verdict against the Governor in withholding assent to the Bills passed in the State Assembly, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday evening vowed to attain the goal of ensuring state autonomy and create a federal India that would strengthen the Indian democratic system.
He was speaking at function to felicitate the senior advocates team--former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, Dr AnhishekSinghvi, Rakesh Dwivedi and former Additional Solicitor General and DMK Rajya Sabha P.Wilson for securing the historic and landmark verdict from the Supreme Court that would reshape the "Centre-State Relations in India" on petition filed by the DMK over the inordinate delay in Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi granting assent to the 10 Bills that were adopted in the State Assembly.
While severely indicting the Governor over the delay, the Apex Court, using the powers vested with it under Article 142 of the Constitution, said all the 10 Bills were deemed to have get his assent and the Acts were later notified in the Tamil Nadu Government gazette, triggering heightened demands from the alliance parties of the ruling DMK calling for his resignation or the Centre should immediately recall him.
