Sukhu govt has taken away outsourced jobs instead of creating 4 lakh jobs: Jairam Thakur

Kangra, Oct 6 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Congress government, accusing it of reneging on its employment promises and victimising outsourced workers.
Thakur was speaking to reporters at Nagrota Bagwan after visiting the residences of the late BJP leaders Vijay Singh Mankotia and Ramchandra Bhatia to offer condolences to their families. He also met party workers, office-bearers and local residents.
He said the Congress had made tall promises of providing jobs before coming to power, including a commitment to create five lakh jobs and one lakh jobs through the Cabinet. “Four years have passed since the government was formed. Where have those four lakh jobs gone?” he asked.
Instead of creating jobs, thousands of outsourced employees were allegedly removed every year, he said.
Referring to an incident at Ner Chowk Medical College in Mandi, Thakur said an outsourced worker had attempted suicide after allegedly losing his job without a prior inquiry. He accused the government of showing “no mercy” towards outsourced employees and said families dependent on such jobs were suffering.
Thakur also questioned the functioning of the state Cabinet, alleging that Cabinet meetings were being repeatedly postponed. He asked the Chief Minister to explain the reasons behind the delays and claimed that the government was being run by “a group of allies rather than a Cabinet”.
He said the BJP's performance in the Panchayati Raj and local body elections had demonstrated that people had lost faith in the Congress government. In Lahaul-Spiti, he said, the BJP had won 11 of the 12 Zila Parishad seats and secured the Zila Parishad chairman's post.
Thakur also challenged Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu's claims regarding robotic surgery facilities in Himachal Pradesh's medical colleges.
He alleged that the Chief Minister had told President Droupadi Murmu that robotic surgery was being conducted in all medical colleges in the state and that more than 500 surgeons had been trained in the procedure.
“If this is true, the Chief Minister should issue a white paper giving details of the medical colleges equipped with robotic surgery machines, the number of machines installed and the number of surgeons trained,” Thakur said.
He said patients at Chamba and Nahan medical colleges were asking where the claimed robotic surgery facilities were located.
Thakur said the government should make the facts public and provide a detailed account of robotic surgery infrastructure and trained surgeons in every medical college in the state.
He alleged that the Chief Minister was attempting to conceal the government's failures through “lies”, while the people of Himachal Pradesh were bearing the consequences. UNI AR CDS
