Swift action by police leads to arrest in theft case, Rs 46.4L recovered within 6 hrs

Hyderabad, June 22 (UNI) In a swift and efficient operation, police recovered Rs 46.4 lakh in stolen cash within just six hours of receiving a complaint from Sun Steels Private Limited.

The accused, Giridhari Singh (28), a former employee of the company and a native of Madhya Pradesh, was apprehended while attempting to flee to his hometown.

The theft occurred on the intervening night of June 20–21, when Singh broke into the company’s godown at Patigadda by entering through the roof and breaking open a Godrej locker in the office cabin. A case was registered under FIR No. 266/2025.

Utilizing CCTV footage, intelligence from travel agencies, and tracking a call made from a roadside dhaba, police traced the accused’s movements. With timely assistance from the Adilabad Police, he was intercepted near the Maharashtra border, and the entire stolen amount was seized from his possession.

Police revealed that Singh, who had been terminated six months ago for misconduct, used his prior knowledge of the company’s operations to plan and execute the theft.

The prompt action and coordination between multiple police units ensured the recovery of the stolen amount and the arrest of the offender in record time, a police statement said on Sunday.
