Teen crashes rented Audi during birthday celebration, kills pedestrian

New Delhi, Oct 8 (UNI) A teenager rammed a rented Audi car into three vehicles in Delhi’s Kishangarh, killing a pedestrian, police said on Thursday.
According to officials, the 17-year-old rented the car for a night through an online app for Rs 16,000 to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
On Sunday, October 4, the accident took place around 2:30 am at the Kishangarh red light, when the juvenile crashed the car into three vehicles while driving the automobile recklessly, officials said.
Umashankar, 45, a resident of Kishangarh, was killed in the crash. Due to the collision, he suffered serious injuries and was rushed to JPN Apex Trauma Centre, where he was declared brought dead.
Police said the teenager was apprehended and produced before the Juvenile Justice Board through video conferencing.
All the vehicles, including the Audi were seized. Officials said an FIR was registered at Kishangarh police station under Section 281 (rash driving) and 106 (1) (causing death by negligence) of the BNS, along with Section 3/181 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Police are also investigating the company that leased that car to the minor, seeking details of booking, the age verification process, driving licence and other documents submitted while booking the vehicle, officials said.
