Telangana CM Revanth Reddy pays tributes to Indira Gandhi on death anniversary

Hyderabad, Oct 31 (UNI) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday paid tributes to former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary, recalling her contribution to the country's unity, integrity and socio-economic development.
In a statement, the Chief Minister described Indira Gandhi as a courageous leader and patriot who placed the country's interests above positions of power and was prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice for its unity and integrity.
Recalling her declaration that every drop of her blood would strengthen the nation, Revanth Reddy said her vision and welfare-oriented policies continued to inspire the country.
He referred to several landmark decisions taken during her tenure, including the nationalisation of banks, abolition of privy purses and implementation of the 20-Point Programme, saying these initiatives had brought significant changes to the country's economic and social landscape.
Indira Gandhi had accorded priority to ensuring that the benefits of development reached the poor and marginalised sections and strengthening the financial security of ordinary people, he said.
The Chief Minister said the Telangana government was pursuing welfare-oriented governance, social justice and the upliftment of the poor in line with the principles espoused by Indira Gandhi.
