Telangana: Complete Godavari Pushkaram works within deadline: Minister

Hyderabad, Nov 6 (UNI) Telangana Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar has directed officials to complete all development works taken up for the Godavari Pushkaralu-2027 within the stipulated deadlines, stressing that there should be no compromise on quality or delays in providing facilities to devotees.
At a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Friday to assess the progress of works in Dharmapuri and other areas of Jagtial district, the Minister instructed officials to expedite pending projects and inspect the quality of completed works.
He said lakhs of devotees from Telangana and neighbouring states were expected to visit important pilgrimage centres, particularly Dharmapuri, during the Pushkaralu scheduled from June 26 to July 7, 2027.
He stressed the need to provide adequate facilities, including roads, bathing ghats, drinking water, sanitation, electricity, parking, medical services, restrooms and changing rooms.
The Minister directed the Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Roads and Buildings and Endowments departments to work in close coordination and prepare comprehensive action plans with clear timelines.
He also called for regular field inspections and strict monitoring of contractors to ensure quality standards.
Special arrangements should be made for women, senior citizens, persons with disabilities and children. Emergency medical services, ambulances, fire-fighting vehicles, traffic management and dedicated routes for devotees should also be ensured, he said.
Laxman Kumar further stressed the need for proper sanitation, cleanliness of the Godavari River and adequate drinking water, food and resting facilities.
He directed officials to ensure that development works do not cause inconvenience to local residents.
The State government has earmarked around Rs 1,000 crore for Godavari Pushkaram-related works across Telangana. Of this, approximately Rs 226 crore has been allocated for Dharmapuri, where works relating to bathing ghats, roads and parking facilities are in progress.
The plan also includes the development of new bathing ghats stretching about 470 metres, according to an official statement.
