Telangana Congress protests at SCR office over denial of special trains to Delhi for rally

Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) The Telangana Congress staged a sit-in protest outside the South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager’s office at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad on Wednesday, opposing the denial of special trains for party leaders and workers to attend a mega rally at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on November 1.
The protest was led by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud, along with Minister Ponnam Prabhakar, Rajya Sabha MP Vem Narender Reddy, Khammam MP Raghuram Reddy, Anil Kumar Yadav, MLAs Naveen Yadav and Sri Ganesh, and other party leaders. Protesters raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Speaking to the media, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that railway authorities has deliberately denied the request for special trains despite a formal representation submitted by MPs Anil Kumar Yadav and Mallu Ravi. He said the authorities responded after a delay of six days, informing the party at the last minute that the trains could not be provided.
He accused the BJP-led government at the Centre of attempting to prevent leaders and workers from southern states from attending the Delhi rally. He also alleged that Congress representatives are treated rudely when they approached railway officials over the issue.
Mahesh Kumar Goud said the INDIA alliance has been organising protests and demonstrations for the past two to three months and asserted that Congress leaders and workers would attend the November 1 rally despite the lack of special trains.
He added that, under the directions of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Congress leaders were making arrangements to mobilise people for the rally and ensure that the party’s protest was heard in Delhi.
