Telangana: Congress spreading misinformation on electoral rolls: BJP

Hyderabad, Oct 6 (UNI) BJP Telangana State President N Ramchander Rao accused Rahul Gandhi and INDIA bloc leaders of spreading misinformation about the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Addressing a media conference at the BJP state office on Tuesday, he said Form 6 is used for voter registration and Form 7 for raising objections to entries, and alleged that Congress leaders were falsely portraying the process as an attempt to arbitrarily delete votes.
Ramchander Rao said the SIR exercise in Bihar was undertaken following a unanimous decision of the Election Commission and alleged that claims that the three Election Commissioners were not acting jointly were part of Congress propaganda.
He questioned Congress leaders' opposition to removing the names of deceased, duplicate and bogus voters, recalling that several Congress leaders had previously raised concerns over fake or duplicate voters. He also questioned the Congress claims regarding large-scale deletion of voters and demanded that evidence be produced.
He alleged that the Congress praised the Election Commission when it won elections but questioned the poll panel and EVMs when it lost. Ramchander Rao said the voter-list revision process should be viewed on the basis of facts and transparency rather than political allegations.
