Telangana Cyberabad police arrest Ex-Service man for cheating and collecting deposits worth Rs 4.48 crore

Hyderabad, May 22 (UNI) The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Police of Cyberabad arrested an ex –service man Jetendra Kumar Choubey, residing at Alawal, Hyderabad, who was involved in Cheating, Criminal Breach of Trust and collected money from victims to the tune of Rs. 4.48 Crores in the name of deposits in J.K. Enterprises, Soumya Sri Hospital and Karthik Logistics, Cyberabad police said in a release here.
Based on the complainant from Ms Chandrawati Evi, resident of Bollaram in the city, a case registered U/s 316 (2), 318 (4), 351 (2) of BNS& Sec 5 of TSPDFE Act 1999 of Economic Offences Wing Police Station, Cyberabad against the accused, said K. Prasad, Deputy Commissioner of Police, EOW, Cyberabad in a release here on Thursday.
The accused Jetendra, a native of Bihar, worked as an electrician in the Military College at Tirumalagiri, Secunderabad, and retired in 2018.
After his retirement, he stayed in Hyderabad at Bollaram and got acquainted with many people in the locality.
After his retirement the accused intended to do business and as a part of his plan, he opened J.K Enterprises, Soumya Sri Hospital, and Karthik Logistics at Alwal, Secunderabad.
By showing these companies, he offered good returns with 5 percent per month on the deposit amount, being an army retired personnel, people believed him and deposited the money.
The complainant deposited Rs. 2 lakh. likewise Ex-servicemen also deposited the money in the accused companies, and the accused collected an amount of Rs. 4.48 Crores towards deposits.
After collecting the deposits, the accused paid monthly returns for a few months, and later he failed to pay the same.
Since December 2024, he closed his firm and absconded.
The accused Jetendra was arrested at New Delhi by EOW Police on Wednesday.
