Telangana DGP stresses on proactive policing and community engagement

Kamareddy (Telangana), May 29 (UNI) Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender today stressed on the importance of proactive policing and community engagement.
“The core objective of policing is to instill a sense of safety and confidence among the public. Peaceful communities thrive when there is trust in law enforcement,” he said during a law and order review meeting held at the Kamareddy District Police Office on Thursday.
He also emphasised that people always aspire to live in a peaceful and secure society.
During the review, District Superintendent of Police (SP) M Rajesh Chandra presented a comprehensive report on the district’s law and order situation through a PowerPoint presentation.
The SP highlighted priority cases, progress in crime investigations, public service initiatives, and challenges being effectively addressed by the district police.
The DGP held individual interactions with Circle Inspectors and Sub-Divisional Police Officers to understand ground-level realities and reviewed major cases, preventive measures, and crime control strategies in place.
He urged officers to enhance surveillance of habitual offenders, particularly those involved in property crimes, and to adopt crime prevention strategies based on timely intelligence inputs. He also called for impartial and efficient investigations to boost public trust and deliver justice.
The DGP commended the efforts of the Highway Authority and Transport Department for their collaboration with the police in reducing road accidents and raising awareness on traffic rules and cyber safety.
The review meeting was attended by Multi-Zone IGP S. Chandrasekhar Reddy, District SP M. Rajesh Chandra, Assistant SP P. Chaitanya Reddy, and other senior officials. District Collector Ashish Sangwan and Nizamabad Police Commissioner P. Sai Chaitanya also met with the DGP during his visit, a statement from DGP office said.
