Telangana: Yellandu Inspector suspended for illegal detention of family

Hyderabad, June 25 (UNI) Inspector General of Police, Multi Zone-I, S Chandrasekhar Reddy, has suspended B Satyanarayana, Inspector of Police, Yellandu Police Station, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, following serious allegations of misconduct and illegal detention.
The suspension comes in the wake of a grave complaint filed by Ram Reddy Pendli (67), who alleged that he and his family were unlawfully confined at the Yellandu Police Station on June 19, 2025. According to the complaint, Inspector Satyanarayana summoned Ram Reddy, his wife Padmaja Pendli (56), son Hareesh Reddy Pendli (37), and daughter-in-law (29) in connection with a family dispute.
However, instead of following due legal procedure, the officer allegedly detained the entire family for 8 to 12 hours without registering any case.
The complainant further stated that the family was subjected to intimidation, denied food and basic facilities, and warned against speaking in their defence. It was reported that Padmaja Pendli collapsed due to the mental and physical distress caused by the unlawful detention and is still under recovery.
The Inspector’s conduct has been described as grossly unethical and a violation of police service rules, tarnishing the reputation of the department.
Considering the seriousness of the allegations and to ensure an impartial departmental inquiry, the IGP has placed B. Satyanarayana under suspension with immediate effect, a statement from DGP office said today.
