Temple tower image at Karuna's memorial triggers fresh row, BJP, AIADMK demands apology from TN Min

Chennai, Apr 17 (UNI) A temple tower image at the memorial of former Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister DMK Patriach M Karunanidhi, a known atheist by, HR and CE Minister
P K Sekar Babu has triggered a fresh row, with the BJP and its NDA ally the main
Opposition AIADMK demanding an unconditional apology from him for hurting the
sentiments of the Hindus and their religion.
To mark the debate on the demand for grants for his department in the State Assembly,
the Minister on Thursday decorated Mr Karunanidhi's mausoleum on the Marina beach
front with colourful flowers and contained the image of a Temple tower, when he came
to offer his tributes ahead of the Assembly proceedings.
Paying tributes at Mr Karunanidhi's memorial and tastefully decorating it was a normal
practice followed by the DMK Ministers on the day of their department's demands are
taken up in the Assembly.
The decoration of his memorial with the image of a Temple Towers, which has gone
viral in the social media, triggering strong reactions and objections from new BJP
State President and BJP Legislature Party Leader Nainar Nagendran and his
predecessor and newly-elected National General Council Member, besides the
AIADMK.
They demanded an unconditional apology form Mr Sekar Babu for hurting the
Hindu sentiments and insulting the Hindu religion an sought to know what pleasure

on the Supreme Court setting time frame for President to take decisions on a plea filed by
Tamil Nadu over the delay in Governor granting assent to Bills passed in the State Assembly,
Chief Minister and DMK President M K Stalin said “no one, however high, can be above the
law.”
