Tennis: Yuki Bhambri wins Almaty Open doubles crown

Almaty (Kazakhstan), Oct 25 (UNI) India’s Yuki Bhambri and his American partner Ryan Seggerman won the doubles title at the Almaty Open 2026 tennis tournament on Sunday, after defeating the top seeds in the final.

The fourth-seeded Indo-American pair beat the top-seeded Austrian duo of Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner 7-6(3), 6-7(1), 10-2 to claim the ATP 250 tennis title, according to olympics.com.
Bhambri and Seggerman snatched a tight opening set on the back of a 7-3 tiebreak, only for the Austrians to hit back and level the match by taking the second-set breaker 7-1.
However, the deciding match tie-break proved one-sided as Bhambri and Seggerman raced clear to win 10-2 and wrap up the contest. This was Yuki Bhambri's fifth ATP Tour title in men’s doubles tennis.
The Indian tennis player won his first title on Tour in 2023, when he lifted the Mallorca title, an ATP 250 event, alongside South Africa’s Lloyd Harris. The following year, Bhambri bagged ATP 250 titles in Munich and Gstaad, both with France’s Albano Olivetti as partner.
In 2025, Bhambri teamed up with Australia’s Alexei Popyrin to win the ATP 500 title in Dubai.
Bhambri also has 14 ATP Challenger Tour doubles titles to his name. At the hard court meet in Almaty, Bhambri and Seggerman’s run began with a straight-sets 7-5, 7-6(5) victory over the Belgian-Dutch team of Sander Gille and Sem Verbeek in the round of 16.

The duo then beat Poland’s Filip Pieczonka and Bulgaria’s Alexander Donski 7-6(6), 7-6(2) in the quarter-finals before overcoming the all-American pair of Jackson Withrow and Nathaniel Lammons 3-6, 7-6(5), 10-6 in the semis to earn a title shot.
At the Asian Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, Bhambri partnered with Dhakshineswar Suresh and reached the quarter-finals of the men’s doubles event.
