Time to be proud of being Indian: Union Minister Gajendra Shekhawat

Pune, June 6 (UNI) Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Shekhawat said Indian culture and civilisation are deeply rooted.
In the pre-independence period, the British tried to attack it. After independence, the rulers needed to enrich this culture and civilization, but they failed and India suffered a great loss.
He said that "Gurus" from various fields maintained the tradition during that period. Today, India is being respected differently in the world. India's culture is being reestablished, and today is the time to be proud of this culture and being Indian, said Shekhawat speaking at a programme organised by Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini with music, dance and theater artists in Pune.
He further said, Indian culture, art, knowledge, science, architecture, have contributed to the world in a way that is amazing. "While civilization in the world is dying over time, civilization and culture have remained in flux in India for thousands of years. Gurus from various fields have made a great contribution to keep this flow alive," he added.
"The Ministry of Culture will continue to encourage, inspire and help various elements in these fields. After the internet revolution, the challenge of intellectual pollution has arisen. Efforts will have to be made at the government and society levels to transmit our rich traditions to the new generation," he added.
